In our world today we find many examples of G-D's word being twisted, misapplied and even
downright perverted as people try to make their lifestyles and choices acceptable to
others. We have people constantly telling us that if we really loved them as the
Scriptures said we would accept their choices and lifestyles. This is not true but it has
become a mantra of those who would walk contrary to the Word of G-D and try to make
those of us who really want to adhere to G-D's word look as if we are the ones who are
wrong. In this week's Parsha we read about a man named Pinchas. When many of the people
who were supposed to be following the Torah instead began whoring with those who stood
against the things of G-D and even the existence of the people of Israel, Pinchas
rose up and drove a spear through Zimri and Couzbi. Instead of following the crowd he
fought against those who were perverting themselves and walking contrary to Torah.
As Messianic Believers today we exist in a world where much of the religious
world has chosen to walk against the ways of the Holy Scriptures. People choose to act
like the world and then claim they are living for G-D. They preach inclusiveness and
ecumenical religion instead of following G-D's commandments, that we would be Holy and live
differently from the world. It is up to us to stand up for truth and righteousness. It is
only when we stand up and let our voices be heard, as we speak the truth of Torah, that
people will understand what true love is. Love is speaking truth even when it is
unpopular. Love is speaking truth even when you are the only one doing it. Love is
speaking truth even when people come against you. True love puts the eternal needs
of people above the temporal needs of today. True love doesn't jump off of a bridge just
because everyone else is doing it. True love tells people they don't have to jump of a
bridge even when everyone is doing it because jumping off a bridge can cause pain and even
death. The same is true spiritually. True love tells people not only about G-D's love
but also about the danger of not following the ways of G-D. We should stand as
flashing lights of warning to those who are about to drive off a cliff into an abyss
because the truth is many people we know are doing just that.
Rise up and be a
Pinchas.

The name of this weeks second Parsha is Pinchas which is the Hebrew word for Journeys. As we read this weeks Parshot we will finish the book of Numbers. Parsha Pinchas is a retelling of the journey of the Israelites out of Egypt. I was reading through the text and it made me think about the telling of my journey as I follow the L-RD day to day. If I were to write a book about my travels as a Messianic believer how close would it be to the history of the Israelites travels. How many times did I listen to the voice of HaShem the first time He spoke to me? How many times have I listen to the voice of G-D speak so clearly into my life and not only heard it but said I would follow His words only to fail? How many times did I go through trials and troubles not because it was G-D perfect will but, because it was the only way G-D could get my attention and bring me back to His plan for my life? How many times has G-D provided deliverance for me only to hear me whine because things didn’t go as I would have planned them? Would I be listed as a hero of faith with Moses, Aaron, Joshua and Pinchas or would I be listed along with Korach and the 10 spies? When people read my book would they look at me and wonder how I could stand so strong and faithful as G-D divided the waters of my Red Seas or will they wonder how I could see so many miracles and still not act in faith. I ask these questions because each one of us is writing a book. The scriptures tell us we are epistles read by all men 2 Corinthians 3:2. What will your book say? Will it encourage or discourage? This is something we should all think about because people reading our books will learn about our Messiah. What would your book teach about Him?
